My passion is independent travel - making sense of local transit, winding streets,
timetables, bakeries and places to lay my head.  I deeply tasted culture shock when
I was 15, living as an exchange student, in a small Mexican village. I hated it and
I couldn’t live without such sensations of  feeling like a cultural misfit who sought
to make sense of other ways. My first solo adventure was in 1973 when I backpacked
through Western Europe with a train pass and youth hostel card. Those adventures
were recorded on onion skin aerograms I that mailed to my parents and friends.  Since
then I have cultivated a “Deep and Cheap” travel style which I’ve detailed in a Slide
Show.  From 1998 - 2011 I posted travel blogs, recording my international field work
and adventures which are linked below.  Since 2012 my travel photography and reflections
have been posted on Facebook.  I now offer “Travel Planning” for clients who seek
assistance in itinerary building including flights, regional transit, home-stays
(Airbnb and beyond), explorations and certainly cultural insight.  This assistance
is detailed on my Facebook Business Page.
